Water is considered to be the origin of life and is the essential component of our body. About 70% of the organism consists of water – the need for fluid is correspondingly high.
We must drink at least 1.5 liters a day to prevent our bodies from drying out (figuratively speaking).
We draw part of it from the food or. from the body’s own processes during fat conversion.
But the majority must be supplied through drinking. Many people drink less than they should, however. All bodily functions suffer as a result.

How much water daily is right?
The rule of thumb is that one should drink about 30 to 40 ml of water per kg of body weight daily.
A person weighing 70 kilograms should therefore drink at least 2.1 liters (better 2.8 liters) of water daily. With sporting activity the need increases quickly by 1-2 liters.

Anyone who feels thirsty has already drunk too little beforehand. It is therefore advisable to start the day with just a glass of water.
You should also drink enough before sporting activities, but not too much at once, otherwise you may feel full.
Get used to tap water
Some may go to the refrigerator to find: “Oh no! We are out of water…”.
Actually, this can’t be the case, because every household has an inexhaustible source of drinking water – the tap.
The water from the tap is filtered several times and is in many regions even so good that it can compete in quality with mineral water. Who is skeptical nevertheless, can check the drinking water hygiene.
Such a check is necessary in the public area (z.B. in restaurants) has long been mandatory.
But also in the private sector a check can be worthwhile to be absolutely sure that the drinking water is free of pollutants and can be enjoyed without hesitation.
Spicing up the taste of water
First of all, it should be said that every type of mineral water tastes different. Many people think they don’t like tap water – but sometimes it’s enough to change suppliers.
The type of packaging can also have a significant influence on taste. Water from a glass bottle tastes very different from water from a plastic bottle.
If you are still just too bored, you can also refine the taste of the water to a certain degree.
Herbs and citrus fruits in particular are great for adding a refreshingly different flavor to water.
Tip: The start-up “air up” has developed a drinking bottle that tricks your sense of taste and spices up your water.
The system works on smell alone. For real water muffle this is certainly an interesting alternative.
Optical tricks: The eye drinks with you!
A commercially available water bottle does not necessarily invite drinking. Try it nevertheless times with a fancy glass carafe or an attractive drinking bottle.
Straws are also a real lifehack for taking in more liquid. Because drinking is simply much more fun this way.
In addition, water should always be at hand. If you only fill a glass of water, you will probably only drink this and then forget to refill it often enough during the course of the day.
If you have a large carafe of ca. 2 liters on the table, you’ll be more likely to actually try to empty them.
Drinking apps can be a help
In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, you sometimes forget to drink enough. Those who are under a lot of stress may not feel thirsty at all or may quench it quickly with a cup of coffee, which can be anything but beneficial due to the diuretic effect of excessive consumption.
A useful tool for this are so-called drinking apps, which can simply be installed on your smartphone for free. They remind you to drink regularly and function much like an alarm clock.
Important: Of course, if the drinking app reminds you to hydrate, you need to have the water handy as well.
Otherwise the reminder is useless. So take at least one small drinking bottle or. take a 0.5 liter water bottle with you wherever you go.
Conclusion: Drinking enough is not that difficult
In conclusion, it can be said that the intake of sufficient water is actually not a particularly big challenge.
